Great for layering and textured work, Blue Rutile is an active, complex glaze that is a flowing blue where thick and breaks brown where thinner. Great for layering and always interesting, this glaze is always one of our top selling Potters Choice glazes!

      

Layering Top Coat

Layering Base Coat

There are many Potter's Choice glaze colors providing a huge number of possible glaze layering combinations. Experiment with combinations of glazes, different numbers of coats of each glaze, (up to a total of three to four coats) and ways to layer the glazes on your clay pieces. 

The samples shown below are 2 coats over 2 coats fired to Cone 6 on AMACO's #46 Buff Stoneware

Layering with Celadons

The Potter's Choice glazes produce unique and beautiful effects when layered with the celadon glazes and fired to cone 5/6. Be sure to use three coats of each glaze and let each coat dry between applications. These tiles have been fired to cone 6 on AMACO #11 A-mix.
